Dr. Steve Hruby is the founder and visionary of Kai-Zen: A Creating Wellness Center. He was born and raised with his two brothers in Arizona. His parents still live in Tucson, where his mother is a retired professor of Physics and his father is a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Arizona.
Shortly after graduating from the University of Arizona, Dr. Steve experienced his first chiropractic adjustment when a friend dragged him to a chiropractor because he was suffering from severe low back pain. Within a week his pain was gone. Fortunately for Dr. Steve, the doctor educated him that even though the pain - the effect, or symptom - was gone, the underlying cause of the problem was not fixed. Dr. Steve decided to continue on with treatment in order to address the cause of his symptoms. Soon enough, Dr. Steve experienced a dramatic improvement in his overall health -- the allergies that he had suffered since early childhood were mostly resolved, and his energy levels rose significantly. It was at this time that Dr Steve dedicated himself to becoming a chiropractor and serving others. After graduating Palmer West College of Chiropractic in 2000, Dr. Steve proceeded to open Essential Chiropractic in 2001. After several years, Dr Steve began work on the vision of creating a wellness office that would incorporate more than just chiropractic. This wellness office would not only help people get out of pain, but would provide clients with the tools to achieve their lifestyle and health goals. It would include a multitude of services that promoted the philosophy that "health comes from the inside-out." Kai-Zen opened its doors in March of 2007.

Alejandra Rodriguez is an acupuncturist at Kai-Zen. She believes that wellness is a function of the whole mind, body, and spirit. While a condition and its symptoms must be treated, Alejandra approaches conditions by first focusing on emotional release. She believes the body holds onto emotional memories of stress, which can manifest itself as illness - and releasing this tension can begin the process of healing. By addressing not just the physical manifestations but also the root cause of the condition, the patient is more likely to see a holistic and long-lasting recovery, and is less likely to relapse into old patterns. Alejandra is an empathetic and compassionate healer, and her patients' comfort and understanding are her first concerns.
Alejandra is a graduate of the Atlantic Institute of Oriental Medicine, which is an accredited Traditional Chinese Medicine Academy in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She received a Bachelor's in Health Science and a Masters Degree in Oriental Medicine. She is board certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). She is also licensed by the state of Arizona as a Traditional Chinese Medicine physician. Alejandra was trained on the NADA protocol (National Acupuncture Detoxification), which is used worldwide for the treatment of substance abuse, depression, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Alejandra also taught as a Clinic Supervisor at the Arizona School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Tucson, Arizona. The Life Extension Foundation, a nutraceutical information-based company, also employed her as a Health Advisor where she discussed health concerns, shared research, and advised callers on general nutritional health and modalities of treatment.

Pagona Xenos was raised in Greece until the age of 17, when she moved to the US with her family. Given her multi-cultural and multi-lingual background, she was fascinated by the field of communication and earned her BA from Wayne State University in Speech Language Pathology. After graduation, Pagona spent many years helping young autistic children learn and better communicate with others around them. Then, one workshop on autism given by Tempel Garddin introduced her to a whole new field. Having learned that those with autism have distinct responses to different types of touch, Pagona found herself taking massage classes and studying numerous ways to maximize health in the human body. Wellness has been Pagona's passion for the past nine years.
Pagona has been part of the Kai-Zen team since 2004. She enjoys her work as a massage therapist and feels that her clients enrich her life as much as she enriches theirs. She finds happiness in meeting new people and contributing to their wellness. Pagona can be found at numerous networking events throughout the valley promoting and educating others about the best ways to strive for wellness.
Pagona has been married to Patrick McGovern for three years. Together they love to travel, especially back to Pagona's homeland.
